Wellness Massage
The link between physical and mental health is well-known and well-researched. After all, it is impossible to have one without the other. Stress can hugely impact both aspects of our well-being, and there is no lack of finding areas that cause stress in our daily lives; the workplace, relationships, financial stress, etc.
Finding healthy coping strategies for dealing with stress can help us deal with physical and mental issues. While most of us know that massage is fantastic for a broad range of physical problems, science also proves that regular massage has impressive effects on our mental health.
Scheduling a regular massage into your month can help transform your body, mind, and productivity. Increased blood circulation, lowered heart rate, and relaxed muscles can help… - Improve Sleep
- Relieve Symptoms of Depression.
- Promote feelings of well-being and connection
- Naturally, Increase Serotonin and Dopamine Lowered Stress Levels.
- Feel Fresh and Energized.
Sports / Deep Tissue Massage
Sports massage is a manual manipulation of the muscles explicitly geared toward helping people with physically demanding lifestyles and hobbies. This therapeutic massage considers the impact of certain activities on specific joints, muscle groups, tendons, ligaments, and soft tissue groups. The conscious focus of sports massage therapy maximises the benefit of particular massage techniques and supports further physical exertion and activity. An initial assessment creates a specially informed massage therapy plan that will meet each athlete’s specific needs.
Why would someone choose this kind of athletic therapy when there are so many other kinds of massages available? Activities such as athletic games, official sports, and intense exercise can be challenging for the body. This means choosing the right massage method for an active lifestyle and body. The purpose of a deep tissue massage, for example, is to treat chronic pain and ongoing tension. This might be beneficial in a very general sense. Still, sports massage therapy is specifically designed to support and enhance the performance, recovery, and relaxation of people (typically athletes) who are frequently and intensely physically active.
Recovering from a destructive injury or physical strain is different for every athlete. The specific recovery program an athlete, coach, physical therapist, or physician decides on will depend on the athlete’s personal medical history and what sport they play or physical activity they engage in. For example, the recovery from a baseball injury will likely be different from that of a gymnast. Consequently, their massages are going to be different, as well. Sports massage therapy can be customised based on specific needs, challenges, and, if necessary, injuries. The ability to identify and treat specific physical weaknesses can have a positive effect on athletic performance.
Athletes not experiencing any physical damage or difficulty can participate in regularly scheduled maintenance massages to help improve athletic performance. Sports massage therapy gives support to the areas of the body worked by specific sport or exercise activities. This kind of activity-conscious treatment and assessment can help heighten an athlete’s abilities and provide them with the physical support necessary to pursue and achieve their goals. Muscle and joint attention through sports massage therapy can greatly assist athletic performance.
When muscles are regularly massaged by a professionally trained sports massage therapist, an athlete decreases their risk of injury. Massage provides the support that the body needs to perform safely and confidently. If an athlete’s muscles are knotted and overly stressed, it will be difficult for them to support their body when playing a competitive sport or participating in rigorous exercise. This can lead to further muscle damage, intensified discomfort, and can even cause injury. A body’s joints need the muscles around them to be fully engaged and strong enough to safely and fully support the body’s movements. It is also far easier to strain muscles that are already tight. Regular therapeutic sports massage helps the body from being dependent on bound muscles and weak joints for support when it is time to perform.
Cellulite Massage
This cellulite massage is a form of massage that targets the areas of the body affected by cellulite, which is the dimpled, lumpy appearance of skin caused by fat deposits beneath the surface.
The following are some benefits of cellulite massage:
Improved circulation: Cellulite massage can improve blood and lymphatic circulation, which can help reduce the appearance of cellulite and improve skin texture.
Increased elasticity: The massage helps to stimulate collagen production, which can improve skin elasticity and firmness.
Reduced fluid retention: The massage can help to reduce fluid retention in the affected areas, which can contribute to the appearance of cellulite.
Pain relief: Cellulite massage can help to relieve pain and discomfort in the affected areas particularly if the cellulite is accompanied by muscle tension and soreness.
Relaxation: As with any form of massage, cellulite massage can help to promote relaxation and reduce stress, which can have positive effects on overall health and well-being.
Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation (PNF)
The Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation (PNF) stretching method, when performed by a therapist, offers several key benefits for improving flexibility, strength, and overall muscle function. Here are the main advantages:
Improved Flexibility: PNF stretching is highly effective for increasing the range of motion in muscles and joints. It uses both stretching and contraction techniques to target muscle groups more deeply than passive stretching alone.
Enhanced Muscle Strength: The technique involves alternating between contracting and relaxing the muscles, which can help build strength, particularly in weak or injured areas.
Neuromuscular Coordination: PNF stretching improves the communication between the nervous system and muscles, helping to enhance the overall coordination and function of the muscle groups being targeted.
Injury Prevention: By increasing flexibility and strengthening muscles, PNF can help prevent injuries. The method allows muscles to elongate beyond their normal range, which can reduce the risk of strains and other muscle-related injuries.
Faster Rehabilitation: If you’re recovering from an injury, PNF can aid in speeding up the rehabilitation process. The combination of muscle stretching and strengthening helps restore the full functionality of muscles.
Pain Relief: PNF stretching can help relieve muscle tightness and discomfort, particularly in areas of chronic tension or post-exercise soreness, by promoting relaxation and increasing blood flow to the muscles..
Better Posture: Regular use of PNF can help realign muscles and joints, leading to improvements in posture and muscle balance...

Relaxation may not be the first thing that comes to mind when thinking about sports massage, but it is an exceptionally important part of maintaining the health of an athlete. Sports massage is used as part of a specific recovery or enhancement program and can also be on-going if a body requires it. Athletes in the off-season benefit from sports massage with significantly decreased tension in the muscles that have been stressed or over-extended throughout the season. For those who play and train rigorously year- round it is a way to help the body sustain physical stress without damage, to quickly and fully recover from injury.
Massage therapy is helpful in balancing chemistry and helping to stabilise overall mood. Mood can have an impact on how effective the body is during physical activity. This is especially true for sports and activities that require quick decision-making and careful observation. Relieving tension build-up and improving emotional state can help prevent accidental injuries and long-lasting damage to the body. It can also help athletes gain an advantage over competitors.

Techniques Used
Therapeutic Massage
Therapeutic massage Is an all-over body massage that encourages stimulating the circulation, lymphatic and nervous systems with gentle but flowing movements with pressure pending on the client’s needs.
These are the techniques I combine within my treatments that have long-lasting effects on the muscles and one self’s well-being. Even in my treatments, I will use cross-fibre and trigger point techniques but with more mild pressure and approach.
Cross Fiber Friction
Cross-fibre friction is done on tight, rigid muscles and lesions. It is an oil-less friction stroke done through fingers, knuckles and thumbs. I apply deep friction at the right angles directly onto muscles, tendons, and ligaments. The amount of pressure may not be comfortable necessarily, but it’s very useful for the relaxation of tight muscles and lesions being treated.
Active Releasing Techniques
Active release techniques (ART) is a combination of examination and treatment. It aims to identify and rapidly work out soft tissue disorders by active releasing the tension and scar tissues within the muscles. These tight/shortened tissues are dealt with by my coordinated pressure whilst the client actively moves the affected area.

Muscle Energy Techniques
Muscle energy techniques (METs) are a type of stretching that encourages lengthening the muscles. As sports therapist experts are trained in these techniques to regain clients’ flexibility around the joints, it’s accepted to be especially useful in stretching postural muscles, which are always prone to shortening. In Mets, the clients actively participate in the treatment sessions by resisting the movement done by myself.
Trigger Point Therapy
Trigger point therapy is particularly intended to ease the source of the Ali by applying pressure on the trigger point where Sensitive areas of tight muscle fibres can form in your muscles after injuries or overuse. These sensitive areas are called trigger points. A trigger point in a muscle can cause strain and pain throughout the muscle. When this pain persists and worsens, doctors call it myofascial pain syndrome; after one treatment, pain decreases and muscles feel more relaxed.
Myofacial Release
Myofascial release is another massage therapy that aims to treat myofascial pain by releasing contracted muscles. This technique can be used with or without wax, but I prefer using wax.
FAQS
What are some trigger point causes?
When trigger points form in our muscles, symptoms can include pain, stiffness, tension, physical limitation, and the loss of normal function. Several factors can make us more vulnerable to the formation of trigger points. These include:
- Repetitive overuse injuries are caused by repeating the same movement over and over again daily.
- Sustained periods of heavy lifting, including activities such as carrying a baby, walking with a briefcase, or lifting a dead weight.
- Habitually poor posture during computer work.
- Muscle clenching and tensing are caused by emotional stress.
- Injuries sustained in traumatic events like a car accident, sports collision, or fall.
- Inactivity, such as prolonged bed rest or sitting.

FAQS
How often should you get a deep-tissue massage?
You may seek deep tissue, remedial, and therapeutic massages daily, a few times a week, or a few times a month for pain, depending on your concerns and reasoning.
FAQS
Why do trigger points hurt when pressed?
When muscles are stressed or injured, they often form tender “trigger points” that feel like dense, tight knots in the muscle tissue. Pressure on a trigger point causes the muscle fibres to shorten and be painful to the touch. And this can send “referred pain” radiating to other areas of the body.
FAQS
What does being sore after a massage mean?
Experiencing sore or tight muscles is normal after a massage, especially if it has been a while since your last massage or you’ve never had one. Massage is like exercise: It forces blood into your muscles, bringing nutrients and removing toxins.

Testimonials
I was lucky enough to indulge in regular massages from Victoria . I kept thinking I can’t be training hard (as I had endless energy and not a niggle in sight), until I missed an appointment… then I realized how much the sessions had helped my recovery, sleep patterns and positive mental attitude! Victoria is a knowledgeable and trustworthy practitioner – she’s now listed as ‘essential’ under my kit list/training calendar!
Victoria is highly professional and she doesn’t seem to rush, being willing to spend an extra two minutes to do a proper, thorough job. She is very friendly but without being distracted from the job in hand. As a male athlete, I feel the balance between friendliness and professionalism is an important one; Victoria has found this balance and I am completely comfortable being massaged by her . Having competed in to a high level in sport she understands the needs of athletes, but would be helpful whatever your sporting goals, will miss Victoria when she moves to France
Victoria spent over an hour and a half with me and when I left I felt amazingly better. She is extremely knowledgeable and explained what was going on and was informative about what she was doing. It's been 3 days since I had my appointment and I am still amazed at how great I feel. I would recommend Victoria’s massage to anyone.
Victoria has been mine and my husbands therapeutic masseuse for 3.5 years, she comes too our house weekly. I suffer with anxiety and I can’t even put into words how much Victoria has helped me, my mental health has improved 10 folds, I’m gonna be lost without her - I’ve got such a positive outlook since starting my weekly massages. My husband is in the best shape he’s been in years he had an extremely physical job as well as playing football regularly and Victoria helps keeping him in he’s best shape. I have nothing but good words to say about Victoria and wish her all the best wherever her wonderful job will take her.
As a practitioner who has been in the exercise field for 30 years, I am always in need of deep tissue work so have experienced massages far and wide. I can categorically state that Victoria's massage skills stand head and shoulders above the rest. She is thorough, attentive, knowledgeable and - better still - intuitive, with her treatments. Thank you for keeping me upright, injury-free and comfortable, Vickie
I injured my lower back a few years ago and now suffer terribly especially due to the nature of my job. It not only affects my sleep but I have constant nagging pain which I had just accepted that I needed to live with it until I met Victoria. After a full assessment Victoria quickly diagnosed the issue, she advised exercise to help my symptoms and performed an amazing sports massage. Victoria is professional, friendly and extremely knowledgeable. I am definitely on the road to recovery! Thank you!
I have been working alongside Victoria for many years at Chelsea Health Club and Spa as the Head of S&C and Personal Training, not only has she helped me stay in top physical condition for my job, she has also worked with many of my private clients from strength athletes to marathon runners, always a first class service, with lots of useful information post treatment to get the most from this exceptional experience. I would highly recommend Victoria to anyone in need of treatment.
Where do i start.I have had a bad back for ages. I work in an office and have done for years, so sitting at a computer for hours. I usually have a massage deep tissue, hot stones all that kind of thing. My right arm has not been able to touch the celling for years, I'm 6ft 4. I have always asked the various places i have been if my issue is bone or muscle, none of these could give give an answer, within minutes Vicky could say this was muscle related. she identified several issues starting from from my neck done to my legs.Put it this way after just one session i can now touch the celling comfortably, my right arm has gained at least 2.5 inches in reach, she has given me relatively easy exercises to do. I can honestly say she has excellent knowledge, easy to understand. I cant thank her enough! am able to concentrate at work more and longer my golf swing has improved my back already feels better, even though we have not touched this area yet really. I believe she really will help me as she is focusing on the route cause. Oh and not as painful as what people say
I have had more than a few massage treatments from the very intuitive hands of Victoria. She is always humble, super keen to learn and keeps the interest of the body she is working on as the core of her sessions. With added new qualifications from top notch University, I can only see her getting stronger & more capable of dealing with muscle injury issues. Thank you Vicky 🙂 The exercises you recommended helped a lot.
I have been suffering with lower back pain for years and luckily I met Victoria a few months ago and she’s totally changed the way I feel! I haven’t experienced the pain since and she has given me exercises that are so beneficial that I can do in between our sessions. She is not only so knowledgeable and understands all about the body, she’s warm and kind and makes you feel like she really cares about you as a client. I would recommend her to anyone, even if you didn’t necessarily have a specific problem per say, but she knows all about how to look after your body day to day and keep the muscles healthy and in good order!
Victoria has been a god send for me and my clients....... A PT of 10 years and I wanted to find a masseuse that I would use myself before I recommend her to my clients and I find her amazing. She explains what she's doing to me or what she's done for my clients to help their performance..... Her knowledge and professionalism is truly a godsend...... thank you Vic
I first met Victoria at the commonwealth games in Birmingham earlier this year and was lucky enough to meet with her again whilst on a boxing trip in Monaco/Nice for treatment. Being an elite athlete for 12 years, involves travelling all over the world getting frequent massages from several different therapists. I can honestly say she has been one of the best. Victoria was able to relieve specific areas in my back, neck and lower legs due to previous injuries and target the right pressure points.I left feeling great, relaxed and recovered, ready for another week of training. Frequent massage is a vital part of my recovery and I couldn't recommend Victoria more for any athlete of any sport or level. Thank you!
I've been receiving treatment from Victoria, a highly skilled sports massage therapist, for nearly a year now to address my persistent shoulder and upper back pain. In just the first two weeks, I experienced incredible results that made me feel kike a heavy burden had been lifted off my shoulders (literally felt as though my shoulders were floating). Victoria's deep understanding of the body greatly enhanced the effectiveness of her treatments, and her expertise in working on trigger points provided invaluable relief for long standing tension and discomfort. Victoria's dedication to her clients well being is truly exceptional. She listened attentively to my concerns and tailored each session to meet my specific needs. Her ability to adapt her techniques based on my feedback and progress was commendable, insuring that i received the most beneficial treatment each time. Beyond her technical proficiency, Victoria creates a warm and welcoming environment that promotes relaxation. Her professional yet friendly demeanor builds trust and allows you to fully unwind during each session. With her remarkable knowledge of anatomy, precision in targeting trigger points, and genuine commitment to her clients, I whole hardheartedly recommend Victoria as an exceptional sports massage therapist.
